Dear Readers,

Thank you sincerely for subscribing, commenting, and engaging with my work.

I started Beyond the Ideological because I enjoy developing and reworking concepts (most recently Third Worldism), connecting dots, and sharing things I find intriguing.

Unfortunately, my Substack has grown less organized and less fun than I would like, and I want a structure that is easier for me to sustain and, more importantly, easier for you to follow.

Starting August 15th, you can expect five formats:

• The Meridian — A weekly column or essay on geopolitics, a crisis, a war, a controversy, or idea consuming the political and intellectual debate of the moment.

• From Elsewhere — Every Friday, a short note on some developments worth watching across different sectors paired with selected links, books, and excerpts from sources that rarely enter the usual conversation, including Arab and Israeli media and publications from Latin America, Europe, Africa, and beyond.

• Long Cycles — On the 15th of every month, a closer look at some of the long-term forces reshaping societies beyond the Western world, from political causes, demographics, and migration to technology/A.I. adoption, urbanization, and generational shifts.

• The Palimpsest — On the 30th of every month, a translated short text from literature, history, or political thought that I believe deserves a wider audience.

• Beyond the Ideological Podcast — Periodically.

The purpose is to bring together developments too often examined separately and to share more of the background that informs my analysis and conclusions. Geopolitics cannot be separated from markets, energy from industrial capacity, or political movements from the intellectual traditions that animate them. Third Worldism, liberalism, Islamism, technological utopianism, and other ideological doctrines also shape how events are interpreted and which solutions appear desirable. In this sense, I consider Beyond the Ideological a very humble effort to look at both the forces moving the world and the battles over how to understand them.
